Developer Quintain has announced a raft of restaurant signings for London Designer Outlet (LDO). LDO is the major retail and leisure element of Quintain’s Wembley City Scheme, and will be London’s first bespoke designer outlet and the only one within the M25.
Frankie & Benny's, handmade burger Co. and Jimmy Spice’s have all signed, boosting LDO’s leisure offer. Along with Cineworld, - which has already signed a 25-year lease for a new nine-screen cinema – this takes the scheme to 30% let by Net Internal Area (NIA).
Phil Cottingham, Managing Director of Retail at Quintain, comments: “I am thrilled to announce this exciting line up of cosmopolitan restaurants. We have intentionally targeted leisure operators in the first phase of the lettings strategy as part of our overall aim to deliver a mixed-use retail, restaurant and entertainment lifestyle destination.
“We are now focused on securing our retail anchors – many of which are at an advanced stage of negotiation. We will then be targeting aspirational designer brands, as well as the emerging fashion and lifestyle labels looking to take their first step into the designer outlet sector.”
| Occupier type | Occupier name | Date signed | Space (sq ft) | Lease length |

Paul Hitchcott, Property Director of The Restaurant Group, comments: “We are delighted that Frankie & Benny’s is the first restaurant signing for London Designer Outlet. With its proximity to the National Stadium and Arena, it promises to be one of the capital’s most exciting new retail, leisure and entertainment quarters.”
Parminder Uppal, Head of Acquisitions at Jimmy Spice’s, says: “This will be our tenth restaurant and the first time we have signed as part of a major new mixed-use development. The significant leisure element of London Designer Outlet has allowed us to secure a substantial space for our unique multicuisine proposition.”
Chris Sargeant, handmade burger Co. owner says: “LDO has attracted a great deal of attention, so we are really excited for it to be our first move into London. We pride ourselves on delivering fresh food, made from scratch using the freshest and finest ingredients, and we can’t wait to deliver that to a brand new audience.”
LDO’s catchment statistics are impressive – it will be the closest outlet centre for 5.8m people – the highest of any in the UK. An estimated 8.4m people live within a 60-minute travel time and there is a total of £3.4bn projected catchment spend. Visitor numbers to Wembley City are currently estimated at 9m a year, and could reach up to 21m per annum.
Work on site will start in autumn 2011. The new nine-screen cinema, which will seat 1,800 people, is scheduled for completion in 2013 - alongside the retail brands and restaurants.
Letting agents for LDO are CBRE and Bruce Gillingham Pollard, Wareing and Partners Ltd acted for The Restaurant Group. Burley Browne acted for handmade burger Co.
